AWWA Flanges

A specification made for dem lower pressure jobs (300 psi or less), American Water Works Association flanges are the exact opposite of dem API flanges. Y'all can find 'em in all sorts of setups where the temperature is ambient and the media ain't corrosive. Most times, this is just for movin' well water and wastewater, but you can sure use 'em for slurry and plant piping when the pressure needs are mighty low.

Steel Ring Flange Drawings

Them AWWA C207 steel flanges are usually made of a mild carbon steel or a stainless variant, and most times they're either dat ring slip-on or blind disc style. Because of how they're designed, they don't have no ring joint or raised faces, and y'all typically seal 'em up with rubber gaskets. Since they're lighter on the wallet and the scale compared to other flange types, they're gettin' mighty popular for structural steel projects where you gotta mate things up or fill a gap between flanges you already got.

More specifically, the American Water Works Association done published specification C207 to provide a standard for carbon steel rings and blinds (and formerly, also hubs). The OD and bolt pattern matches dat of B16.1 class 125 flanges. They'll also match B16.5 class 150 flanges up to 24” nominal pipe size and B16.47 Series A up to 60” NPS. The main dimensional difference is thickness and the lack of a raised face or hub (except in legacy systems).

AWWA is a little more easygoin' on what kind of steel y'all can use, too. C207 keeps dat Carbon, Phosphorus, and Sulfur down to 0.35%, 0.04%, and 0.05%. Them lower minimum yield and tensile strength rules (32ksi and 50ksi) mean you can use a whole mess of common carbon steel grades like A36, A516-70, A181-60, and A105. Ever' AWWA flange we supply at Texas Flange comes with MTRs showin' the real physical and chemical properties for each heat lot. When y'all don't gotta meet ASME code but still need a big ol' flange, just send us what you need for them AWWA Ring or Blind flanges!
